Initiative 5: U.Va. CHARGE Enhancement Funds
Provide small grants to support women’s career advancement in the STEM and SBE disciplines. Career advancement activities include: research, teaching, scholarship, and professional development.
Grants can be used:
Enhancement funds are meant to support women faculty in STEM and SBE career advancement. Enhancement Funds, up to $5,000 max, will be awarded for activities to support the applicant’s research, teaching, scholarship, and/or professional development. Faculty from underrepresented groups and mid-career faculty are strongly encouraged to apply. NSF funds will be used to support tenured/tenure track faculty, part of NSF ADVANCE program goals. Generous support from the Provost’s office aimed at enhancing career development opportunities for all faculty will be used to support tenure ineligible faculty.

The goal of the NSF ADVANCE Program is to increase the participation of women, including African Americans, Latina, and Asian American women, in the academic science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and social, behavioral and economic (SBE) science careers.
